I've been practicing since 1995, first as an associate at a small boutique firm, then in a larger law firm, and finally as a partner with other lawyers in my own firm.
Using my experience in those prior firms, I felt there was a better way, so I formed my own law firm as the sole shareholder. I took what I had learned from my prior experiences, created my own best practices and left behind what simply doesn't work. As a result, we're very different from other law firms in three main ways:
1. Your Estate Planning is About You, Not Me
It doesn't matter how many clients I've served, or where I got my law degree. It doesn't matter how much I know about tax planning strategies. In the long run, I'm not the one who has to live with your plan ... you are.
Some lawyers feel the need to impress their clients with how smart they are, or pressure them into one-size-fits-all plans. I feel my job is to listen to you, really listen to you, and use my expertise to help you make the right decisions for you and your family.
2. We Do Everything on a Flat-Fee Basis
You want certainty in your life. And you don't like unexpected bills from lawyers. For these reasons, we alleviate any unpleasant surprises by performing our work on a flat-fee basis. We speak openly about our fees up front, and when you work with us you choose your own fee.
That's right, you participate in choosing your own fee as we design your plan.
Our clients are a lot happier with this arrangement, and so are we. No more billable hour, no more surprise invoices.
3. We Make it Easy for You
I know firsthand how busy working families can be (I'm a father of four with a working wife myself), and that it can be a real struggle to put your own needs ahead of your children, your family, and your business obligations. The reality is that if something like estate planning can be put off, it will, sometimes indefinitely.
But the fact of the matter is that no one knows when he or she will die. While it's unlikely that something will happen to you prematurely, it's possible. And if you don't have a plan, or don't have a plan that works for your needs, the effect of a premature death could be absolutely disastrous.
For these reasons, we do everything we can to make it as easy for you as possible. Typically, we complete a plan in 2 to 3 meetings over the course of 4 to 8 weeks. We offer complete trust funding services and offer a plan review every three years so you can have total peace of mind that your plan will work when you need it.
